Custom electronics, salvaged speakers, projection.
An immersive sound performance activated by light. In this variation, light pulsing from the hands, feet and eyes are fed into the light sensitive receptors of the instrument which generates audible frequencies. The volume builds until the lights in the room begin to pulse, signaling contact with the surrounding space before triggering darkness.
Electronically hacked and modified wearable instrument, 14” x 16” x 3.5” 2017-2019
Comprised of a salvaged CD player, LEDs, photoresistors, custom circuit boards, and additional speakers, the original motors of the CD player have been rewired for bi-directional control and the laser replaced with a light sensitive photoresistor.
Two oscillator circuits generate frequencies that can be controlled by both light input and variable resistor. When spun, broken CDs control the amount of light received by the sensor and change the frequency. An attachment allows for tapping 4 into a circuit bent Casio keyboard.
