(melting)
An ongoing project (melting) started in the winter of 2016 when I borrowed all the aluminum cans and glass bottles that were going to be recycled at Ox-Bow School of Art in Saugatuck, Michigan. While I was there for a two week course, I was on kitchen duty, the "work scholarship" that covered cost of room and board. It also meant I had access to the recycling bins and so long as I didn't keep the recycling (in Michigan those bottles and cans are $) no one minded what I did with them in the meantime. There was about a foot of snow that had accumulated during my time there, and in the last few days of my stay the temperature rose enough for the snow to start melting. I lined the cans and bottles up strategically along the edge of the inn's porch, so that as the snow melted and dripped from the awning overhead, it would hit them or collect inside their mouths.
I have continued to record the sound of melting snow in less controlled situations. More documentation to come.
